Dedicated to Kim Hughes.
Thanks for organizing the whole thing,
for surprising me
and for proving me that there is no
barrier or boarder strong enough
to break a friendship like ours
The last e-mail of Kim before she came. Aparently, she was coming alone.

Hey bud- Okay, here are the details for coming to see you!! :)
I am taking the M.V. Coho ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria. It
leaves Port
Angeles at 8:20am and says it will arrive in Victoria 9o minutes
later- which
would be be 9:50am. Here is the ferry office phone number if you
need it-
(250) 386-2202 located on 430 Belleville St.
So, can you meet me at the ferry dock? I can't wait to see you. The
ferry
departs from Victoria at 3pm though, sadly there are no later times.
:( I
would have to be back at the ferry dock at 2pm. We can just walk
around town,
have lunch together and talk. It will be a short day, but SO worth
it. I am
really excited to see you! :) Write me back as soon as you
can. Talk to you
later.
~Kim - the cow girl :)
I will see you on Saturday! Yeah! I can't wait to come!! :)
So, meet me at
the ferry dock around 9:50am. Thank you Carlos- we will have a fun
day!
------------
Kim
told me she could come. I was happy, to hear that, unfortunately she told
me she was the only one that would make it. Well at least one is coming
I said to myself and got ready for a great day. I planned everything: From
what we would do ( with girls is easy: just go to the mall ), ot where
we will eat. ( she is vegetarian... No, I don't know how she made it that
week she was in Peru )
But, for my surprise, she came with the whole fish
gang. Don't ask me about the fish thing, they say it's a cool thing of
them, I say they need therapy...
They did surprised me. Of course, now I had to
improvised, cuz my master plan for the day was useless.
It was a lot of fun, and we had great day. Then
we went to see the Empress's tea room, just to see the tea room, then Lindsay
was hungry so we went for breakfast...
and then to the wax museum. After that Lindsay
was hungry again, so we went for lunch...
And after that they had to go back....
And thought it seems like noting out of usual or
like no fun, it was one of the greatest days I ever had since I arrive
here. It was fun to be the translator again, but this time with nothing
to translate, just fun. Before they left they handed me over
two
cans of Inca Kola.
I was so happy....
Well,
hopefully someday I will be able to return the visit.
Someday.....
As they left I turned back and walk away from the
Ferry terminal... with tears in my eyes but a thankful heart....
Friends.... are friends for ever...
You are the funniest guy ever and can always bring
a smile to someone's
face. You are caring, genuinely kind and very considerate
of others. You desire to do God's will
always, no matter what it may be. You're part Peruvian,
Mexican, German, Canadian, and American
